We at DFTC have a busy year coming up so here is a summary of what is to come. Celebrating 10 Years! The first weekend of May saw the celebration of Downend and Frenchay Tennis Club’s relocation to Frenchay Cricket Club’s grounds to mark their 10th anniversary.
Members, family, and friends were all invited to the tennis courts, where players of all ages and abilities showcased their diverse range of skills.
Saturday morning, coaching programmes were organised into two teams, who competed against each other to build scores, which were then added to by the afternoon competition. Ollie Baker expertly arranged matches, pairing players based on their age and ability, and kept track of the scores for each team. Ultimately, the red team emerged as the overall winners!
Rich Stadden, manning the BBQ, Emily, Susan, and our Bake Off 2025 winner, Jacqui, who made a selection of cakes, all supported the event.
Raffle prizes were generously donated, and attendees had the opportunity to test the latest racquets with our local reps at Jordan Sports.
To help everyone recover from such a successful day, cocktails were served in the cricket club’s bar. We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event possible. Your efforts have made a significant contribution to the start of a big year for DFTC.
The club is now planning to boost its fundraising campaign to support the new club build project, which aims to provide facilities for the upcoming autumn season. This year, there are also exciting opportunities for local people and businesses to join our buy a brick scheme or purchase a sponsorship banner. These banners are an ideal way to promote your business and attract attention to your organisation.
